Michael sent word that he and his wife are fans of Patra's silk lingerie. I was a bit skeptical, because my experience with pure silk lingerie has been, well, not so fab. (It wrinkled horribly and the strands broke down, resulting in "cracks" or something which actually are rough on the skin.) However, maybe I've just had crappy silk ( and returned too-happily to my vintage nylon). So I'm willing to stand sit corrected. What Do We Think Of Waspies?

As a vintage lingerie lover, I'm not quite sure how I feel about Agent Provocateur's line of "waspies" -- a combination of waist cinchers and garters belts, shown here in Gypsy and Stephanee designs.



Maybe I'm just too much of a traditionalist because they bother me; such delicate yet wide pieces at the midsection look a little out of proportion, making the waist appear larger rather than smaller, which certainly doesn't provide the "wasp" imagery.

Plus, as I find that covering more is indeed more sexy, I'd probably wear a girdle and slip over them anyway.

Robots In Light Satin (Or Vintage Nylon Maybe)

While flipping channels last night, I came across images of a woman in a light blue slip; naturally I watched for a few seconds.


But it wasn't until she of the light blue, loaded with lace, full-slip in a min-skirt length flipped out and committed robot suicide by electrocuting herself -- but not before she began flipping about in high-speed, bouncing on and tumbling over furniture etc. before literally cracking up and falling to pieces that I was really hooked on seeing the rest of the film and put the remote down.


Turns out, sexy scary robot girl assassins and wildly fun evil villains have been around before Austin Powers and The Spy Who Shagged Me.



Well, to be fair, I knew these sorts of movies sort of had to exist in order for the Austin Powers films to parody them, yes? But seriously, Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs (starring Vincent Price as the evil Dr. Goldfoot, Fabian as hero Bill Dexter, and Laura Antonelli as the love/lust interest, the lingerie wearing Rosanna) is equally as camp and fun. And I can say that after missing the entire first half of the Dr. Goldfoot film. (I'm sure watching from the beginning only makes it more enjoyable lol)

Amazingly, Antonelli (as Rosanna, not her robot-double) keeps that slip on for the majority of the rest of the film. Sure, she usually has a gentleman's jacket over it -- but even so, that's more lingerie slips in an hour than most of us get in days or weeks of watching television and films! Plus, there's even a girl on girl catfight scene between our lady in blue and one of the evil girl bombs clad in a gold bikini. Wo0t! If you're into such things...

You can read a full review of the film here, where I found the screen shots (presumably taken from broadcasting on Drive-In Classics); the reviewer doesn't like the film, but maybe it balances out my girlie gushing about lingerie and love of camp movies. If you're interested, you can watch it on Hulu.
