Getting Around To Open Backs...

I know that the seller of this vintage Sears nylon nightgown photographed the open back on the front of her mannequin because the mannequin is one of those front-formed hanger kind of display pieces...

 But seeing the breasts appear in the large open area like that reminds me of what we used to do with all our sweaters in the 80s.

Taking a page from the 50s and 60s, we would take the v-neck button-up sweaters and flip them around to make a sexy back to button up -- an invitation to button down!

We'd take the big over-sized shaker sweaters and vests with the deep Vs -- the ones you were supposed to wear over a button down shirt with a skinny tie or bolo tie -- and wear that sweater backwards, the deep V exposing a sexy back. (And usually the sweater became a mini-dress, belted with a wide patent leather belt or a set of chains.)

We enjoyed framing the sexy goodies any way we wanted. It extends one's wardrobe quite a bit too.

So, then, why not wear this nightgown backwards? In the privacy of your home, of course *wink* Even if that fitted front lays a little lumpy in the back, I doubt anyone will be looking there!

(I've not seen the show, but I find the note in the review about her "exclusively female clients," the store sign that reads No Boys Allowed, more off-putting than the Girlie Girl crowd's upset about fur.)

A Sexy Hello From The 80's

Oh, I remember sexy teddies like this, alright. They were made to be shown off in public, with the sexy panty-parts a secret you might just share with your partner. I've rather been waiting their return along with other 80s fashion looks. Of course, I prefer mine to have full panty backs, not thongs.

It Was My Birthday...

When I blew out the candles, I was wishing for this: a vintage Schiaperelli peignoir set, circa 1960. Lovely nylon in the designer's signature shocking pink with a confetti of gold metallic polka dots. The nightgown has wide mesh straps, a gathered bustline and a floor-length skirt trimmed and lined in matching pink mesh. The peignoir has lovely ruching detail at each elbow, an exaggerated shall collar with pleating detail at shoulders, and gold button closures at center front.

According to Cincy Chic, Bad Girl Ventures (BGV) founder Candace Klein is hosting a lingerie trunk show this Saturday. Well, I Do Declare!

I don't believe I've ever seen metallic sliver lace plissé lingerie before! This vintage beauty, a half-slip, has me wistful to don it and dance and prance... Oh, to plié in plissé!

Exceptional silver plisse petticoat, with a double layer of fine pink tulle peeking out of the bottom scalloped lace trimmed hem. It is completely lined in pink nylon chiffon. It has an elastic waist, and a velvet and organdy rose at the lift in the hem. Label is " Beau Monde", all nylon. It still has it original paper hang tag from the store.

The Kindness Of Strangers & Celebrity Dangers (Collectible Lingerie Alert!)

One of my favorite films is A Street Car Named Desire. (I'm not the only one who feels this way; my art group is named after the famous line from the film.) And we all know that I have had to depend on the kindness of strangers. Plus, I love lingerie -- and I'm not alone in that either, right? *wink* So, now, just imagine owning (even if not being able to actually wear) this sheer pink and ivory peignoir worn by Vivien Leigh, as Blanche DuBois, in the film!

(I swooned thrice, fainted twice, just trying to post this!)

Hot pink silk robe with delicate ivory lace covering, pale pink chiffon belt and trim on collar, cuffs and train. Silk floral accents at cuffs and parts of chiffon are missing. Very fragile condition overall. Worn by Vivien Leigh in her Academy Award-winning role as “Blanche DuBois” in the scene where Karl Malden confronts her and tells her he does not want to marry her in A Streetcar Named Desire.

A Conversation About Conversational Underwear

I have very mixed emotions about the What Would Your Mother Do? line of "conversational underwear"...

Is it a line of last defense? ...Not sure a tagline on panties is much of a defense.

Oh, I don't know... Perhaps the best thing is that we're having any sort of conversation about sex at all. What do you think?
